Okay, so no one but me thought Ol' Frank looked cute in saddle oxfords but, humor me...

What about HR Pufnstuf?   There's even an up-to-date blog devoted to HR and friends. As far as adult themes inserted throughout the show?  yep, they were totally lost on me.  I'll never be able to watch the show in the same way.  What did that kooky ol' witch want with the wand anyway?

Would I ever want to watch it again?  Probably not.  Gee, I've come along way, Baby.

And Captain Kangeroo?  Do ya remember?  Do ya?  Do ya?

Well, I do.  That's right.  I'm a child of the '60s.  Go ahead and laugh.

You know you've had a few too many birthdays when you and your husband sit at Sonic drinking a malted milk shake and laughing about Sigmund, Jimmy, the witch and the golden magic wand, and dear ol' captain.

Ah, what a happy life we had every Saturday morning...me vegging on the sofa in my pajamas and my brother sitting on the floor with a glass of milk and Oreo cookies.  Doesn't get much better than that.

While listening to Paul Harvey today, it was revealed that in a world of hard business and cut-throat personalities, it's nice to see that there's a still a little bit of Mayberry left in the world today.

Former co-star Andy Griffith was at Knotts' bedside when he died, ...

"Don meant everything," Griffith said in a telephone interview. "Don made the show. I've lost a lifetime friend."

The two actors remained close friends over the years and reprised their roles in the 1986 television movie "Return to Mayberry."

Let's Ride the EAC

Marlin: "Crush, I need to find the EAC, the East Australian Current. Do you know where that is?"
Crush: "Dude! You're riding it!"

I was relieved to discover that I am not the only Catholic mother who blogs about comics and cartoons (what's the difference?). 

Danielle Bean blogged about the Spongebob fad as well.  She doesn't care for him either; but, unlike me, I don't think she has discovered the educational side of Spongebob's wit...yet.  : )

Here were a couple of educational insights my 8 yr old got ala Spongebob:

Spongebob Wisdom:  "Look! I'm a photosynthesis."  (Almost a year later, while reminising this quote, my 8 yr. old now informs me that we cannot be phtosynthesis but can, in fact, photosynthesize.)

More Spongebob Wisdom:  "Momma, do you realize that today is the tomorrow you thought about yesterday?"

Princess (beginning to laugh with glee):  "Mom, the EAC!  You know.  On Finding Nemo!  The EAC---Eastern Australian Current!"

Me:  "Oh!"

Today we looked it up on the Internet as the children wanted to know exactly where it was.  And so, the Gibson children take another trip, courtesy of the Educational Advanced Comics circuit.
