Marlin: "Crush, I need to find the EAC, the East Australian Current. Do you know where that is?"
Crush: "Dude! You're riding it!"
I was relieved to discover that I am not the only Catholic mother who blogs about comics and cartoons (what's the difference?).
Danielle Bean blogged about the Spongebob fad as well. She doesn't care for him either; but, unlike me, I don't think she has discovered the educational side of Spongebob's wit...yet. : )
Here were a couple of educational insights my 8 yr old got ala Spongebob:
Spongebob Wisdom: "Look! I'm a photosynthesis." (Almost a year later, while reminising this quote, my 8 yr. old now informs me that we cannot be phtosynthesis but can, in fact, photosynthesize.)
More Spongebob Wisdom: "Momma, do you realize that today is the tomorrow you thought about yesterday?"
Well, the comics struck again. Yesterday, we were headed on a last minute Wal-Mart trip to pick-up a King Cake (Princess got the prized baby in French class and had to bring a cake to class today).
4 yr. old Starr asked, "Where are we going?"
Me: "To Wally World."
Starr: "No we're not. We're going to the EAC."
Me: "The What?"
Princess (beginning to laugh with glee): "Mom, the EAC! You know. On Finding Nemo! The EAC---Eastern Australian Current!"
Me: "Oh!"
Today we looked it up on the Internet as the children wanted to know exactly where it was. And so, the Gibson children take another trip, courtesy of the Educational Advanced Comics circuit.
