Bad, bad, bad, bad blogger rang through my head this afternoon as I finally sat down at my computer. I missed having a morning beverage with Maureen and all of you this morning.
Not that this morning wasn't a delightful melody of grandparents over to see and admire soccer trophies and pictures and listen to a small granddaughter's near-perfect attempt at reading her "Let's Make Pizza" story and a quick school lesson in math followed by a cosy sit-down for our Christmas lesson and a quick, urgent call for "Can you bring me something to eat, Mom?" from my oldest which I cashed in on with a delightful small-talk conversation with him before he had to go back to work.
It was just one of those mornings when my life was full of family (and I was very grateful it was) and the computer sat in the corner silent and lonely. And that's fine because it isn't a big part of my life (though my husband and children may debate that :) ). On the other hand, my family is my life. Not a small part, not a big part, not just a part. They are my life and, for them, everything else gets put on hold.
So I won't apologize for the delay this morning but I will say I have become very fond of you readers who write me lovely messages (online and privately) when I'm feeling down, and some dear friends who even call me (even while on vacation) to demand that I not eat those worms (they're really gross). You, dear readers, are a fun part of my life and you bless me immeasurably.
So, as I'm feeling so warm and Christmas-y (and partly because I'm so late in the day getting my coffee and blogging this post), let me bless a few of you. I'm going to extend the sign-up time until...Monday morning. That's right. Monday!
I'm headed out of town tomorrow and must pack and get family matters situated before leaving. I won't have time to do a count and draw for the prizes and I definitely wouldn't be able to get the prizes mailed until next week. So my computer will sit abandoned and forlorn a little longer than a morning. And you, if you're just now visiting, and your friends have an extra few days to email me your name and mailing address and get entered in the cake bowl. One entry is plenty. Participants are flooding my inbox as I type so one entry is plenty. Your name is in the bowl...I promise.
Now for the yummy part. What's being won on this Book Walk?
- Grand Prize: Another autographed copy of Christmas Mosaic
- 1st Place: A Gift for the Christ Child: A Christmas Folktale by Linda Schlafer---this book (another beautiful offering from Loyola Press) is listed in the booklist but not featured. However, as an adaptation of the classic picture book it is the perfect read-along with Why the Chimes Rang (one of the featured books in Christmas Mosaic)
- 2nd Place: A gift set for a mother: Loyola Press has graciously donated some of their Christmas books to the Book Walk. One entry winner will win a set of Carol Lynn Pearson's books: The Christmas Play: A Fable for the Holidays and A Christmas Thief
- 3rd Place: Two preschool-selections: Another Loyola selection Baby Jesus and Santa's Favorite Story (a featured Mosaic book)
Remember...this Book Walk lasts until Monday morning and all you have to do is email me. Four prizes Christmas gifts will be given out. You have time to let your friends and family know about it.
