For Today I'm Following my own Cajun Cottage version of the Simple Woman's Daybook
Outside my Window...blue skies, spring flowers and clovers popping up in the yard, and an icy cold breeze.
I am thinking. . . about this.
I am thankful for. . . a husband who can get the job done.
From the schoolroom. . . the schools in Louisiana are out for the next three days (Mardi Gras holiday). I'm using this as an excuse to take a couple of teacher in-service days and plan for the Lenten season as well as check over schoolwork to see what needs to be done by the end of May. We will also make use of one day to go to the Children's Museum as a special treat.
From the kitchen. . .
- Breakfast: leftover doughnuts from Sunday morning
- Lunch: frozen pizza
- Snack: fresh warm brownies & cool whip
- Supper: a simple pot of Wahoo! Chili w/ sour cream
I am wearing. . . blue jeans, white T-shirt w/ garden scene, black canvas slip-on shoes
I am creating...a Lenten altar
I am going. . .to Care/Help today w/ a carload of stuff (I cleaned out my closet yesterday).
I am reading. . .actually I am waiting to hear my dogs announcing the arrival of the UPS truck w/ my Amazon order. I had some Amazon play money to spend.
I am hoping. . .for a prayerfully inspiring Lent.
I am hearing. . . the tumbling of the dryer.
I am praying...for my online friend Paula and her family.
Observing the Liturgical Calendar...this week marks the beginning of the Lenten season...plans are in the making.
Around the house. . . throughout the weekend the whole house smelt of vinegar. We are remodeling our back bathroom and were told that vinegar helps get wallpaper off the wall. I guess it worked well enough but...wallpaper is wallpaper.
I also cleaned out my walk-in closet. Oh, Almighty-Domestic-Goddess-Am-I!
One of my favorite things. . . a trip to the warehouse store to shop for NEW tile, paint, and flooring. Decluttered closets are pretty high on my list as well.
A few plans for the rest of the week. . .
- Mardi Gras: We will feast with a supper of gumbo and king cake. Possibly a parade when Daddy gets off work. Maybe.
- Ash Wednesday: ashes at Mass, Stations of the Cross in the Prayer Garden, the purple cloth ceremoniously placed upon our altar w/ other symbols of Lent.
Here is picture thought I am sharing...
Don't be scared.
It's just a bunch of un-ruly, un-socialized, un-structured homeschool kids during Co-op Science class.
Looks pretty normal, huh?
The other children seem to be pretty excited to see another mom break up Science class with a camera. Looks like my child is the only one saying "Mom! Put the camera away!"
I have seen that "Mom, put the camera away" look many times myself--LOL--but her face, even with that look, is awfully cute.
