Outside my window. . . gray and foggy
I am thinking. . . about Christmas
I am thankful for. . . the slowing down of outside activities
From the schoolroom. . . reading The Silver Donkey and nothing else, Christmas vacation
From the kitchen. . . small dishes these last few days before the feasting begins:
- Monday: melted grilled cheese sandwiches and bowls of hot chili
- Tuesday: red beans and rice w/ ground meat
- Wednesday: (Kayleigh's cooking while we attend Mass) peppered steak and rice
I am wearing. . . pink top and socks with floral overshirt and beige slacks
I am creating. . . the menu for Christmas Day. Want a peek?
- Stuffed Pork Roast & Ham
- Corn Dish
- Navy Beans w/ bacon
- Asparagus in hollandaise sauce
- Deviled Eggs
- Rice Dressing
- Fried Macaroni & Cheese
- Layered salad (broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, grapes, and tomatoes w/ sour cream dressing)
- Cranberry & Walnut Salad (Kayleigh's special)
- Cranberry Sauce
- Extras: Chips, boudin dip, shrimp dip
- Desserts: Pumpkin Roll & Chocolate-dipped Cream Puffs and whatever everyone else brings
I am going. . . to my aunt's today.
I am reading. . . The Divine Office for Dodos by Madeline Pecora Nugent
I am hoping. . . for peace on earth, goodwill towards men.
I am hearing. . .Christmas carols
Around the house. . . it looks festive and Christmasy and sparkly. I love Christmas!
One of my favorite things. . . Christmas tree lights!
A few plans for the rest of the week. . . basketball practice tonight, haircut tomorrow (I hope), Annie's doctor check-up tomorrow (I hope), Mass on Christmas Eve, and CHRISTMAS!
I am praying for...families facing unemployment and financial stress this Christmas season
Here is picture thought I am sharing...
