We are safely home. Thank you all once again for the many prayers. Our home area was hardly hit. Nothing compared to Hurricane Rita three years ago.
Hurricane Gustav was Tropical Storm Gustav by the time it hit north of us. We caught the west side which is the better scenerio.
Still...here is a picture of my oldest on the lakeside dock just as Gustav began making his appearance known.
Please continue to pray for those who have yet to return home due to evacuation restrictions and damages to their home.
From the birth of my very first blogging efforts, I thought I'd share some old posts from that time (Rita '05) in our lives:
I'm so happy to hear from you, Cay. We've been watching the news and looking at maps and, especially, praying for you and for all those in the paths of Gustav, etc. Thanks also for the links from your early blogging days -- as you know, I had you in my prayers then, but missed out on those posts due to a "storm" in my own life about that time. But I will check them out now. (Er... maybe I better save them for tomorrow, now that I noticed what time it is and thought about how early we have to be out and about in the morning.) Welcome home!

It is a miracle that Gustav weakened as he came ashore. Prayers answered! My Mom eveacuated to B.R. and I spoke to her for the first time tonight since midday Monday. No power in B.R. and no power in her apartment building in N.O. We feel so helpless when we loose our power and our communication systems! She will probably head home anyway. Better to be home and uncomfortable than somewhere else! Stay safe throughout this hurricane season.

Glad you were spared this time. My community just south of BR and LSU along the river was hit harder than we have ever been hit before (according to many 80 year old neighbors). I'm visiting my cousin in WBR to bake my son's birthday cake and wash some clothes. They say three more weeks until we have power. My home was hit by an uprooted 80 foot tall pecan tree. The tree actually bounced when it hit my house and still landed on the house, but we had no interior damage to the house and thank God it did not come through my kitchen window where all four adults were at the time. Two more trees hit our garage/shop. We have a crushed car, crushed tree house many uprooted fruit trees and snapped large trees. I'm sure you know the drill. Thanks to everyone who prayed for the safety of those in the path of the storm. We appreciate any prayers to get us through the weeks ahead and thanks for letting me vent my experience here. I check in again in three weeks, hopefully.

I was just introduced to your blog. I think I will really enjoy it!! My fiance is in Louisiana (I am in Florida); Gustav paid him a visit....and now he has a tree house! You can read about it on my blog... ;-)
