Cay-
I want to come to your first day of school!
We "school" year round so we don't have a first day of the school year. Your plans are making me regret that!
Have a wonderful year!

What a cool mom/teacher! We never do anything special for the first day. I need to come up with something...

Oh wow, Cay! Sounds like a fabulous day!! I hope it goes beautifully for you! :)

Sounds like a great plan! We traditionally go out for doughnuts the first day of school and I've been trying to think of something else fun to do. Thanks for the ideas!

Sounds like a great day Cay! Care to share what you have in the scheuletes for your kiddos? I love that tradition but have yet to start it around here.

Oh, what wonderful ways to start back! I'm going to have to adopt some of those! I love the breakfast out. I might amend it to homemade waffles with choc chips on top! Cheaper and keeps away the temptation to do just one more errand while we're out, which would push school off...Off to think.

Thank you, everyone.
We had a great first day back. Like Kimberly said, it is great to be back in the groove.
I'll say one thing for schedules and routines. They help with the discipline around here. :)
Tracey, I like to "think" we school year-round because I do believe the children are always learning. But there is a lot to be said for new school supplies, new books, fresh starts, and first days of school. We all need fresh starts. :)
Betsy, you should really try it. It's worth the effort just to see and hear the children's excitement.
Dana, it'll be doughnuts next year. I've already told the children. IHOP was way too expensive. Thank God for Grandmas. Oma forked the bill on this one (excuse the pun).
Thank you, Oma. Hugs and kisses.
Deb is right. Making your own chocolate chip happy-face pancakes is just as good. If you let the kids mix and cook them it's even better. :)
Becky, I will share what was in the scheuletes and the evolution of them within our home. I made small ones this year and should have kept them large.
More later. My computer time is past up.
Hope everyone's school days are picture perfect. :)
