I have never claimed (nor smugly considered myself) to be the only teacher/guider/authority/protector in the upbringing of my children. I think anyone who thinks this is only fooling themselves.
Our children (especially the teenagers) aren't fooled for a moment.
Here are a couple of articles I printed this morning to place on my oldest daughter's pillow: to read at leisure, to perhaps mention to me, to perhaps question me about months down the road, to perhaps discuss with me, and certainly to think about.
Teenagers think about lots of things. In a world that is otherwise vague and frivilous and unspiritual, it's good for us to place honorable, noble, spiritually up-lifting thoughts on their pillows and into their heads.
Thank you, Marjorie, Kim, and Danielle for helping me raise this young woman I am privileged to call "daughter".
We'll allow the Holy Spirit to do the rest.
Oh, the Holy Spirit is so faithful.
