After a 4-H workshop in the morning at the local university, our family is headed to the lake.
I wish you and your families all a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving Day (Week).
One thing I am forever thankful for in my life is the consistency of family. I thank God for the abundant blessing He has given me through my family.
I often suspect...no, I'm fairly certain of it...that the reason my family is close-knit and my children have solid morals is because of the family unit that surrounds us.
I suspect we parents play an enormous role in the up-bringing of our children...I know we do...but society (at large) is harsh and crude and rude and sometimes larger than life. It can certainly overshadow the work we do as parents. It is only by the grace of God that our children grow up to be godly men and women, and that grace is often found in those around us who lift our children up alongside of us.
It takes a family to raise a child...the uncles who talk (and listen) to the teenagers and support what the parents have already said, the aunts who are always there to respond to their needs and embrace them since infancy, the GRANDparents who are very grand indeed in every department of parenting, the cousins who share not only DNA but all the memories as well, and the family friends who wrap it all neatly up in a bow.
Embrace your family! And thank God for them!
Please keep Pattie Kelly-Huff's family in your prayers throughout this holiday season. They lost their little boy Christopher this morning. It will be a very poignant holiday season for their family and I know your prayers will help.
