  • Prayer for Hurricane Season
    O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; you are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control. The Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a storm-less eternity awaits us.   • Prayer to End Abortion
    Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. Today I commit myself Never to be silent, Never to be passive, Never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, And never to stop defending life Until all my brothers and sisters are protected, And our nation once again becomes A nation with liberty and justice Not just for some, but for all, Through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Book Walk Up-Date

Tea_cake_book_coverAs I said, there are lots and lots of Jennifers out there....including the handful who entered the recent Book Walk.

It was Jennifer #56 who won Alice Cantrell's graciously donated book Tea and Cake with the Saints.  She is one lucky lady today, and her daughter (the perfect age for this book, btw) is very lucky that her mother entered this contest.

For all those enthusastic participants who still want this delicious, beautiful book, there are still 44 more days until Christmas.  You still have time to order this perfect gift for the sweet girl(s) on your Christmas list.

There will be no Book Walk next week due to the Thanksgiving Holidays.
