In case anyone thinks I've put my other three children up for adoption, I thought I'd share here what the they have been up to. They are all teenagers (my oldest turns 20 this Saturday), so they very much have lives of their own and I am sensitive to the attitudes and moods of teenagers who do not want Mommy to write about them, much less take pictures of them.
Yet, I don't want my readers to think I keep my teenagers locked in closets and living on bread and water. : ) They do live around here and have very full lives. They are busy...part of the reason they are not often seen in the pictures on my blog...but they are still here and very much a part of the ebb and flow of the Gibson Gang.
He's busy with working full-time and attending college night-classes. Need I say more? We hardly see him around here but he does show up late at night to finish off the leftover box of pizza and drink the last of the Dr. Pepper.
Like his Mom he's a night-owl. He stays up till midnight or later working in the shop on numerous projects...too many to count. If you need something tackled, just hand it to Corey. He has the gift of problem-solving with his hands. Opa says it's because he has that "Swan-yay" (Sonnier---in French it's pronounced Song-yay) blood in him. Ants in the pants, ya know.
Last night he courted me outside to see the marsh boat he's been working on. He was staining it. (Excuse my camera...I think it's on it's last leg).
Sometimes he even obliges me with reading a picture book in preparation for the research on my new book. A soon-to-be twenty-year-old who still gives opinions on picture books that his mother hands him---and even poses for a photo---yep, he's a pretty good kid. Think I'll keep him for 20 plus 20 plus 20 more years.
In his free time between work and school, he hunts and fishes but, this past weekend, he and Julie took Chelsea and Annie to the church festival and he (who has never been a big amusement park rider) rode the rides with his little sisters. Then they all went to a local church for Mass for the Deaf. Julie knew most of the songs in sign-language and taught the girls lots of signs during Mass.
He's a good big brother but, like his daddy and pawpaw, loves to pick and tease the girls. He exasperates them at times but, when we recently took a long trip to DisneyWorld, they cried for missing him. Weird, huh?
I always wanted a big brother just like the one your girls have. What a good guy!
