I can almost...almost...smell the Christmas cooking and baking now.
Round, doughy lumps of chocolate chip batter stuck on the fork and fingers. Peppermint extract pinched into melted white chocolate. A plate of warm molasses cookies shared by Julie and a recipe for orange-spiced snowballs shared by Dawn are already on the menu to be enjoyed with these scrumptious picture books: The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey and An Orange for Frankie.
There are many more Christmas books drifting into your family's holiday season once Christmas Mosaic is published this autumn. You'll want to get ready with a cup of hot cocoa (frothing with marshmallows) and your library card to check these warm, cozy books out and enjoy them while these goodies stew on your stovetop or bake in your oven.
Here is what we need:
1. A good reliable fruitcake recipe
2. Lebanese "Nest of a Bird" or "Eat and be Grateful;" failing that, a good baklava
3. Oyster stew
4. Currant cakes
5. Wibele (cookie)
6. Your favorite Christmas cookie
Each of these is mixed into a delicious picture book. It's an added treat to have the recipe on hand and to make memories with your children that will last a lifetime of Christmases.
So, please, think back. Way back. To your own childhood Christmasas. Was there a recipe your grandma or mama made that is wrapped up in your memories just waiting to be opened and shared with all of us? We would really rather use personalized recipes in this mega Christmas sharing. It makes the batter all the sweeter.
My publisher is requesting all recipes for Christmas yummies be forward to her at [email protected].
