This little jar of "ick" found in my watering can last week has taken us on an impromptu mosquito trial.
They are fiesty little things, still in the larvae stage (also known appropriately as "the wigglers") and look very much like this culex here:

Ours should be going into the pupa stage soon.
Anybody want a pet mosquito?

Let's see... we have 3 dogs, 2 cats and some fish. We recently gave away two guinea pigs, a gecko and 2 finches so we would have the room, but I think we'll pass.
Very interesting though.
