Pride almost prevented me from sharing this picture. It's a little embarrassing, to say the least, but I know my readers who visit can read the writing on the wall in the dust and will get some pleasure in seeing the aura that encircles my happy home...even if it be dust.
Least everyone think the cottage in this Cajun home is blissfully elegant by the array of pictures up and down my hallway, let me assure you of what lurks along the baseboards of that same hallway.
About four months ago, we cleared out my son's bedroom to lay a new floor down and paint the walls. Into the hallway went the books and containers that had been stored on shelves in his room. He begged me not to put them back into his bedroom. Respecting his wish, the books and containers (minus the ones I brought to the recent homeschool park day and gave away) have sat in the hallway awaiting another home within this home.
The dust has since been wiped away but the picture serves as a reminder that, even amidst the notorious piles of books and school "stuff" that disrupts my desire for complete elegant simplicity, I am blessed with the realization that I live in a home with six other people who make smiley faces and hearts in the dust rather than in a sterile showplace with no one to love and educate and hold and to make me giggle at smiley faces in the dust.
I love it!

I'm glad your pride didn't get in the way! What a delightful post.
