Field Trip Inspiration

<p>Need preparation and inspiration for the up-coming <a href="http://caygibson.typepad.com/cays_cajun_cottage/2006/06/join_us_for_a_f.html">Nature Field Trip</a><em>?&nbsp; Buzz</em> around a couple of neat nature blogs:</p> <p><a href="http://dawnathome.typepad.com/marigolds_for_mama/">Marigolds for Mama</a></p> <p><a href="http://lapazgarden.homeschooljournal.net/">Digging In</a> (cooking trips included)</p> <p><a href="http://ebeth.typepad.com/blossoms_and_bees/">Blossoms and Bees</a></p> <p>And <em>don't</em> miss Dawn's <a href="http://dawnathome.typepad.com/by_sun_and_candlelight/2006/06/at_long_last_sp.html">mushroom spore prints</a>.&nbsp; Since we've had lots of rain lately, we're definitely looking for these today.&nbsp; And <em>don't </em>miss <a href="http://lapazgarden.homeschooljournal.net/2006/06/07/produce/">Theresa's lovely, bountiful garden</a>.&nbsp; What a gardening bonanza! And <em>don't</em> miss Stef's <a href="http://garden.stefoodie.net/?p=83"><em>gleditsia</em> <em>triacanthos</em> tree</a> (ah, the wonders of nature). </p> <p>Ever inspiring, make sure you read Theresa's <a href="http://lapazfarm.homeschooljournal.net/2006/06/18/rhythm-and-nature/">Rhythm and Nature post.</a></p> <p>We met a friend of ours in the grocery store the other day.&nbsp; Her son informed us that they just ordered 1,500 (or was it 15,000---no, not possible---or is it???) <span style="color: #ff3300;"><strong>ladybugs...</strong></span><span style="color: #000000;">and did we want some of them to raise?</span></p> <p>Why certainly!&nbsp; DQ is always craving real-life nature study ever since hearing about her friend's butterfly study in public school.&nbsp; Not to be out-done, we've made mental plans for:&nbsp; a butterfly garden.&nbsp; &nbsp;And now we have a promise of a <span style="color: #ff3300;">ladybug</span><span style="color: #000000;"> farm!&nbsp; &nbsp;I plan to shop at our local educational shop and <a href="http://www.tobinslab.com/">Tobin's Lab</a> for more hands-on nature study this school year.&nbsp; But, honestly, the children do so much on their own that they don't seem to be aware of.&nbsp; Why! just this week, guess what DQ found in the yard yesterday?&nbsp; It's <em>so cute!!!&nbsp; </em>And guess what the girls saw under our carport that made them come skrieking into the house the other day?</span></p> <p>Well, just you wait, Mr. Higgins, just you wait!&nbsp; We'll let you know in a full <a href="http://dawnathome.typepad.com/by_sun_and_candlelight/2006/06/care_to_join_us.html">Field Trip Report</a>. </p>
