I haven't had any luck getting the dog to the vet. Things keep getting in the way or I go at the wrong time or the office is closed for lunch, etc. We've used this same vet since I was in junior high school and we've always gone on a walk-in basis.
So, today I called to make an appointment...for the first time.
Me: "Can I bring Frenchie in this afternoon? She just needs her shots."
Receptionist: "Well, the dr. has two C-sections scheduled. How about tomorrow morning?"
Okay, I'm aware that dogs have to have emergency C-sections at times...especially the smaller breeds like poodles and chihuahua and such...but scheduled C-sections?
On top of this, our pest control guy came this afternoon to check the house for...what else...pests, of course. Our part-boxer usually greets everyone with fierce barking so I'm always aware someone has arrived. I was surprised to hear the doorbell instead and to find our fierce watchdog sniffing and checking out---rather gently--- the pest control guy.
Pest Control Guy (laughing): "Gosh, she's mighty friendly today. Do y'all have her on Prozac or something?"
The world has definitely gone to the dogs...in procreation matters and otherwise.
