Praying for Matthew Karol

Prayer During Hurricane Season

  • Prayer for Hurricane Season
O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; you are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control. The Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a storm-less eternity awaits us. Amen. Originally dedicated to the victims of Hurricane Audrey in 1957. - Fr. Al Volpe, Cameron Parish, LA

Prayer to End Abortion

  • Prayer to End Abortion
Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. Today I commit myself Never to be silent, Never to be passive, Never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, And never to stop defending life Until all my brothers and sisters are protected, And our nation once again becomes A nation with liberty and justice Not just for some, but for all, Through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Great post Cay. I ordered the book a while ago and stupidly had it sent to my house rather than my parent's where I am staying for a few weeks. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

I share your hopes for Bibby Jindal, he'd make an excellent presidential candidate.

Of course I meant Bobby. I am the typo queen.

Thank you for the wise words, Cay. I need to take Padre Pio's words to heart. I am praying and hoping, but still worrying. We know that God is in control, so what's the point in worrying, right? :o)

I was disappointed when Bobby Jindal decided not to run for president this year. Y'all are so blessed to have him as your governor.

Nancy

Cay, I wish I would have read this before I posted today. After reading your post...I seem so angry...and I guess I am. You are right...about everything you wrote. My heart has softened since reading this. Thank you.

Molly

Thank you, your peace is much needed! Your gentle reminders are just what I need.
Bless you friend!

Carol

Cay, I so needed to read your post today, (and here's one Californian that says AMEN to Bobby Jindal in the White House!) Our family was disappointed at his not running this time, but we also knew how much Louisiana needs him now. Good work; please keep blogging. You are a blessing.

Kathy

Cay,

Thank you for your post. I am also very sorry to hear about the loss of your nephew. I pray that the Lord brings you and your family healing and peace.

Thank you for giving us a good look at your governor. Something to keep in our prayers.

A suggestion made at www.spiritdaily.com blog is to sprinkle Holy Water or Blessed Salt in the voting booth. Also if time sprinkle it around the site where you are voting.

Perhaps we should all do this!
